Marrakech

Kirstie & Phil are heading to North Africa to find out if you can have a heart-stopping holiday without the heart-stopping price tag.

Even with only £500 per person per week in her budget, Kirstie manages to find accommodation in the heart of the old city where there’s no distinction between the pavement, shop front and moped race track. Fortunately the hotel itself is an oasis of calm – a traditional Moroccan Riad, built around a quiet, intimate, courtyard.

If you’re holidaying on a budget, any attraction that’s free is a must and Marrakech’s greatest freebie is the souk. Sprawling market places where fabrics, spices and carpets are haggled over with cut-throat determination - a busman’s holiday for our two favourite deal-makers…

If you’ve got money to spend, which this week Phil does, then Marrakech has some incredibly luxurious delights. He’s taking Kirstie to a hotel set in 8 acres of private gardens - with a tranquil spa and views of the Atlas Mountains it’s hard to believe that the bustle of the city is right on their doorstep.

And it wouldn’t be a Phil Spencer Luxury Special if he didn’t try to lure Kirstie into some daringly exotic mode of transport. A balloon trip at dawn leaves her speechless. Something Phil didn’t think was possible.
