Kirsties Handmade Britain
Kirstie’s Handmade Britain: Baking
Baking competitions might seem like a genteel tradition, but Kirstie quickly finds out they’re a cutthroat world full of competitive cake makers and she has to work harder than ever to stand a chance of a rosette.
At the Devon County Show she enters the Afternoon Tea Class, learning to make scones, homemade jam and éclairs. At the last minute Kirstie throws caution to the wind and decides to enter the single cake class making a Caribbean Fruit Cake – but things don’t go entirely to plan.
After wrestling with her piping bag and performing marzipan surgery to her cake, she’s finally ready to have her entries judged anonymously against her rivals. Will a win be the icing on the cake or will Kirstie’s rivals pip her to the post?
